I created this page because of my conviction
that the Psalms ought to be sung and that it is not too difficult for
most congregations to learn how to sing them. I have employed the
traditional method of having a cantor or choir sing the verses and given
the congregation a refrain adapted from the psalm to sing. These
settings were inspired by Carl Daw and Kevin Hackett's Hymn Tune
Psalter series, but I don't think I've copied any of their work.
If I have, I hope they will forgive me. My settings may also be useful
because I'm working my way through the Revised Common Lectionary which
has replaced (or soon will replace) the standard BCP lectionary. The links below marked "Audio" will take you to .wav or .mp3 files of my settings and the links under "Graphics" will take you to scores in .jpg or .tif format. Note: If you want to use the refrain or verses in your worship leaflet, then it's best to follow this procedure: (1) Right click on the link and choose "save target as"; (2) specify the folder where you want to save it; (3) when you want to open it, then you can use whatever graphics program you have on your computer. If you're having trouble with this, don't hesitate to email me at anglcan@aol.com. I've supplied words to the refrains but not to the verses.
